From chic boutiques to world-class restaurants, we’re covering the essentials for an epic Kingscliff getaway.
Tucked away in the top corner of the Northern Rivers region, this easy-going coastal town makes for a brilliant beach break. The laidback hamlet boasts abundant sun, sand, and surf sans the thick tourist throngs.
Kingscliff Accommodation
From no-frills motels to sleek five-star boutiques, a broad range of lodgings caters to travellers of varying tastes.
Smack bang in the centre of town, Peppers Salt brings five-star luxury resort living to Kingscliff. Featuring a sprawling, sun lounger-lined pool and a soothing on-site wellness spa, it’s got everything you need for a luxe escape.
Next door, sister resort Mantra on Salt offers superb services for a more wallet-friendly rate. Most well-appointed rooms boast glistening Pacific Ocean views—keep an eye out for breaching whales. Top-notch amenities and easy access to the beach enhance the appeal.
Book yourself into Halcyon House for a true treat. Located in Cabarita Beach, this chic little boutique boasts brilliant vintage décor and smooth maritime blue hues. The sleek designer hotel also houses an award-winning restaurant and spa—it’s well worth the splurge.
Kingscliff Restaurants
A buffet of long-standing and up-and-coming restaurants is redefining the Kingscliff dining scene.
The current talk of the town is the hotly anticipated Farm & Co, an authentic zero-kilometre restaurant that began life in nearby Cudgen. Set to open in September 2022, the brand new Kingscliff branch brings the same paddock-to-plate ethos to the coast. Expect fresh produce from the Cudgen farm prepared by an all-star kitchen team.
If gourmet Greek tickles your tastebuds, tiny Taverna plates up the good stuff from a whitewashed beachfront cottage. Diners pile into the pretty sidewalk patio to devour shared-plate delicacies like halloumi and meze. Feeling famished? The signature Feasting Banquet is guaranteed to fill the belly.
On Salt guests won’t need to wander far to find a first-rate culinary experience. Nestled inside Mantra, Fins is a destination venue focused on sustainably sourced seafood. Celebrity chef Steven Snow has been running the show for over 20 years. In that time, he’s clocked up countless chefs’ hats and the prestigious ‘Best Seafood Restaurant in Australia’ accolade (Seafood Excellence Awards). Needless to say, don’t order the steak.
A quick 15-minute car trip down to Cabarita Beach sees you arrive at Paper Daisy, the region’s other big-name destination restaurant. The hatted affair has won a laundry list of awards for its superb set menus courtesy of Executive Chef Jason Barratt. But be aware: non-Halcyon House guests can only dine there with a group lunchtime booking.
Kingscliff Activities
From surfing to beach bumming and SUP, Kingscliff offers an array of activities to soak up some sun on our spectacular coastline.
Cyclists can roll along scenic oceanfront bike paths, either north to Tweed or south to Cabarita Beach. If hiking is more your jam, you’ll find gorgeous rainforest-shrouded trails in nearby national parks. Give Nightcap, Wollumbin, and Mount Jerusalem a gander.
A short trip inland takes you to Tropical Fruit World, a kid-friendly amusement park with cute animals and rides. Follow the road onto Husk Distillers if you fancy sampling award-winning sugar cane rum or transformative gin.
