Take off to Tamborine Mountain
When it comes to girls’ weekend getaways from the Gold Coast, one of the most popular options is Tamborine Mountain. But for good reason, because it’s home to a little bit of everything to suit every woman in your life. This includes hiking trails to waterfalls, world-class wineries and distilleries, and cute boutiques lining the streets.
Here’s our essential Tamborine Mountain girls’ weekend guide. But don’t miss the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, soaking up the sun on the outdoor deck at The Polish Place and visiting Tamborine Mountain Distillery. As for accommodation, take your pick from several stunning Airbnbs. This includes a tiny home, a mountain retreat and an enchanted cottage.
Unplug in the Tweed Valley
If you and the girls want some quality catch-up time without the distraction of the city hustle and bustle, a Tweed Valley farm stay may be the perfect option. Mavis’s Kitchen is renowned for its farm-to-table fare, but its onsite accommodation is something else. The Old Dairy is “a cottage with character” that sleeps up to six people. It’s been beautifully restored and features a unique stone-walled skylight bathroom.

If you don’t want to travel far but crave a summer weekend getaway with the girls, make a beeline for Burleigh. First, stay in an apartment at Crystal Pacific. Then just try and tear yourself away from the picture-perfect daybeds surrounding the magnesium mineral pool. It’s also conveniently located a short stroll from the infamous Tallabudgera Creek. Other places to tick off your Burleigh bucket list include brunch at Palm Springs, shopping at the boutiques lining James Street and sunset drinks at Burleigh Pavilion.
Skip Byron for Bangalow
We love Byron Bay as much as the next person. However, the crowds descend in summer, so we suggest heading to neighbouring Bangalow instead. It oozes rustic rural charm and is the perfect weekend getaway from the Gold Coast. For food and drink, head to Butcher Baker Bangalow for breakfast and Frida’s Field for an unforgettable long lunch experience. Then along Bangalow Road, you’ll find several boutiques and gift shops.

Chill in Cabarita
If you prefer the beach to hinterland vibes, Cabarita is the coastal town for you and the girls. For a tipple, we highly recommend Husk Distillers to try their unique creations and Earth Beer Co, which has an avocado Kolsch (yes, really).
