How to Organise an Epic Work Christmas Party

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and that means it’s time to plan your company’s Work Christmas Party! But let’s be real, organizing an event can be stressful, especially when there are budgets, venues, catering, and transportation to consider. That’s why we’ve got some insider tips from the pros at Kiff & Culture to help make your end-of-year celebration a hit.

From choosing the perfect venue to selecting delicious catering options, we’ve got you covered. So, sit back, relax, and let us guide you through the planning process.

Lock-in the Date Early

December is prime socialisation time—most folk’s action-packed calendars are already filling up fast.

The longer you take to settle on a date, the fewer staff will be able to attend. Thus, the first course of action is to confirm a time and date.

If you fancy taking the democratic approach, send a company-wide email with an online poll (Google Forms will do the trick) so staff can vote on their preferred date(s). If you’re more of an authoritarian type, set up a meeting with the office bigwigs and let them decide.

In either case, be sure to choose a time that aligns with core company deliverables (don’t expect peak productivity the next day).

Work Out Your Budget

Once your date’s locked in, the next step is to determine how much you want to spend on the Work Christmas Party. Only once you’ve established a budget can you begin fine-tuning the small details.

Naturally, the allocated budget will depend on the ‘Christmas spirit’ of your company’s key decision-makers. Have a chat with your boss and/or finance manager and get written approval for the final figure.

Now you know how much you can spend, it’s time to look at what you can afford.

Choose a Venue (Or Better Yet, Venues)

While the stock-standard food and beverage package at your local RSL might sound like a good deal, would its drab, pokie-strewn rooms boost employee morale?

Probably not. If you’re keen to celebrate company achievements in style, you need to put on a shindig to remember.

Experience has taught us that wineries, breweries, and distilleries are fantastic Christmas party venues. And it’s not just for the unfettered access to top-quality booze—these happening locales also have delicious food.

To really up the ante, you could weave multiple venues into the mix. How does a charcuterie-fuelled picnic followed by a quick scenic hike and a long, boozy lunch at a brewery sound?
